ENVY™ Collection FAQs
How is the ENVY door different from other aluminum garage doors?
The difference is where the glass sits. On our Modern Aluminum doors, Models 511 and 521, a frame surrounds each glass panel. On the ENVY Model 956, the glass panels mount on top of the aluminum structure, which creates a frameless, full-view front. Choose ENVY for the most seamless modern look.
Is a full-view glass garage door practical in Michigan?
Yes, if it fits how you use the garage. Glass doors bring in daylight and make a strong design statement, but glass generally insulates less than an insulated steel door, so they suit unheated garages best. Clear glass also lets people see in at night, so consider what you keep in the garage.
What homes look best with an ENVY garage door?
ENVY doors suit contemporary and modern homes with clean lines, large windows and metal or glass accents. They can also refresh a mid-century home. On a traditional home, a carriage-style door often fits better. The DoorView tool on this page lets you visualize a door from Overhead Door on your home before you decide.
How do I care for a glass garage door?
Clean the glass and aluminum a few times a year with mild soap, water and a soft cloth, and avoid abrasive cleaners. Glass doors are heavy, so the springs and opener must stay correctly balanced. Never adjust the springs yourself. A Red Ribbon Service Plan includes a safety inspection, lubrication and a 25-point inspection.
Can an ENVY door replace my current garage door?
In many homes, yes. A full-view glass door is heavier than many steel doors, so the springs, tracks and opener need to be matched to it. Call your nearest location or use the Schedule Service form to have our team look at your opening and talk through the ENVY options.
