LEARN MORESafety Bollard FAQs
What is the difference between a flexible bollard and a rigid steel bollard?
A rigid steel bollard stops a vehicle by not moving, while a flexible bollard gives on impact and then returns to its original position. Rigid posts can bend, crack the floor or damage the vehicle when they are hit. Rebounding bollards absorb more of the impact, which can mean less damage to the post, the floor and the equipment.
Where should safety bollards go in a warehouse or plant?
Safety bollards belong anywhere vehicles and forklifts pass close to things that must not be hit. Common spots include door openings, building columns, rack ends, utility lines, machinery and pedestrian walkways. A walk-through of your traffic patterns is the best way to find the risk points. We can help you plan placement for your facility.
Can bollards protect my overhead door tracks?
Yes, bollards placed on each side of an overhead door opening help keep forklifts and trucks away from the door jambs and tracks. A single strike can knock a door off track or damage its sections. If a door has already been hit, our technicians repair off-track doors and damaged panels on commercial doors of all brands.
What other impact protection products are available besides bollards?
Besides bollards, Impact Recovery Systems® offers fencing and guarding, column protection, rack protection, and parts and accessories. The fencing and guarding uses a modular design, so it can be set up in almost any layout. Rack protection is built for demanding rack guarding jobs. Many facilities combine several of these products to protect a whole aisle or work area.
