Will a new remote work with my older Overhead Door opener?
In most cases, yes. The Master Remote uses auto seek dual frequency 315/390 MHz and works with all Overhead Door garage door openers made from 1993 to the present. Several other Overhead Door remotes work with openers made from 1995 on. If your opener is older, ask about the Universal Radio Conversion Kit.
What does a battery backup do for a garage door opener?
A battery backup keeps your garage door opener working when the power goes out. That matters if the garage is your main way in and out of the house, or if you need to get a car out during a storm. Ask our team whether a battery backup fits your current garage door opener.
How can I tell if I left my garage door open?
The Door Report remote answers that question by letting you know whether you closed the garage door. For control from anywhere, the OHD Anywhere app lets you control and monitor your garage door from your smartphone. Both are helpful if you often leave home and wonder whether the garage is shut.
What is the Safe-T Beam and why does it matter?
The Safe-T Beam is an infrared safety system for your opener. When something passes through the beam, the closing door stops and reverses, which helps protect children, pets and cars. Keep the sensor lenses clean and lined up, and call a technician if the door keeps reversing for no clear reason.
Why does my remote stop working near LED light bulbs?
Some LED bulbs give off radio interference that can shorten a remote's range or block its signal. The Overhead Door LED garage door opener light bulb was designed and tested to reduce or eliminate remote interference with most garage door openers. Swapping the bulb and replacing the remote battery are good first steps before buying a new remote.
